VINTAGE AND WINEMAKER'S NOTES: 2013 was a second consecutive classic Spring Mountain District vintage. An ideal spring bud break, steady flowering, even fruit set and a lengthy stretch of warm but not to hot days presented beautifully flavored grapes. Our Merlot from this vintage in particular expresses that great Spring Mountain District terroir which had an intense tannin backbone which benefited from the addition of some of our Cabernet to round out and layer the mid pallet. The aroma of this vintage is full of classic berries and black cherry with hints of cocoa, cedar, and tobacco leaf. On the mouth, vibrant fruit shows off a richly layered, incredibly mineralistic mid-palate and lingering black fruit finish.
